We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electromagnetic Designer to join our Design team and contribute to the development of the next generation of high-performance quantum processors.

Working in close collaboration with experts at Nord Quantique, the chosen candidate will:

• Perform electromagnetic simulations to test and optimize quantum processor designs.
• Develop and refine EM structures to enhance coherence properties and coupling rates.
• Collaborate on the development of computational tools for design automation.
• Work with cross-functional teams to integrate optimized electromagnetic components.
• Conduct design validation and performance analysis to improve hardware efficiency.

The selected candidate will operate within a highly dynamic environment and will be an essential member of the Design team, directly contributing to advancing our technology at its physical core.

Education and experience requirements *:

• PhD or equivalent industry experience in electrical engineering, physics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in electromagnetic design and finite-element simulations, an asset
• Experience in quantum hardware design and superconducting microwave circuits.
• Industry experience with a proven track record in interdisciplinary R&D teams.

Sought expertise and knowledge:

• Deep understanding of electromagnetic theory and microwave engineering principles.
• Proficiency in electromagnetic simulation software such as Ansys HFSS, PALACE, or similar.
• Experience in computational modeling and Python programming for scientific applications.
• Understanding of loss mechanisms and material properties in superconducting devices.
• Familiarity with automation and high-performance computing techniques.

• Work hands-on with cryogenic systems, superconducting microwave circuits, and control electronics.

• Contribute to experimental benchmarking and performance analysis.

The software team’s mission is to design, develop and maintain the critical software that enables the development and operation of Nord Quantique’s quantum computers. The team also plays a role in promoting best coding practices across teams and in providing training for the tools that we create.

The software team lead is the person providing the vision for all of this to happen. We are looking for someone who can bring clarity and insight at three levels: 

• Within the software team — inspiring and guiding the team members to accomplish the many projects that are part of the roadmap;
• Across Nord Quantique — foreseeing future needs from other teams and supporting the development and integration of software solutions for them;

• Experience scaling and maturing software products, from initial design and prototyping to stable, fully deployed solutions.

Our current needs

We are scaling our activities alongside our quantum processors. In this effort we are looking for an exceptional individual with a strong track record of experimental work in the field of quantum computing with superconducting circuits. This person will assist our team in the development and scaling up of our technology.

More specifically, this individual will lead experimental campaigns to push our hardware capabilities and continuously deepen our understanding of the science behind it. The person will develop new methods and hardware through a strong interaction with our theory, design and experimental teams.

Sought expertise

• PhD experience in working in experimental physics with superconducting circuits
• Proven experience in leading experimental campaigns and sub-teams
• Proven ability to design, characterize and push the performances of superconducting circuits
• Deep knowledge of experimental techniques related to the characterization of superconducting circuits including qubit spectroscopy and state-of-the-art time-domain techniques
• Good understanding of the theoretical concepts behind superconducting circuits
• Ability to program experiments in python-based environments

As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a Lab Manager to ensure the efficient, safe, and reliable operation of our experimental facilities. The selected person will be responsible for the day-to-day management of Nord Quantique’s laboratories — including maintenance, procurement, and process documentation — while supporting the technical teams to focus on their research and development activities.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining hands-on technical work with organizational responsibility, values operational excellence, and thrives in a dynamic research environment.

Future needs 

As Nord Quantique continues to expand, the Lab Manager role is expected to evolve toward supervising a small team of laboratory technicians. This future responsibility will include coordinating day-to-day activities, overseeing training and onboarding, and ensuring efficient resource allocation across projects.

Working in close collaboration with the Quantum Hardware team, the candidate will:

• Lead the setup, integration, and upgrade of experimental platforms (e.g., cryogenic systems, control electronics, assembly workstations, …).
• Oversee the organization, maintenance, and safety of laboratory spaces and shared equipment.
• Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance with vendors and internal teams.
• Manage inventory of components and consumables to ensure continuous lab operation.
• Contribute to the development and documentation of operational and safety procedures.
• Implement and monitor compliance with safety standards.
• Maintain records of the status of operations of the different systems.
• Collaborate with facilities management on space planning and infrastructure needs.
• May be required to report to work outside of regular working hours to ensure continued operations in case of emergencies.

Education and experience requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in physics, engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in cryogenics infrastructures or related.
• Experience implementing or maintaining lab safety programs is an asset.
• Familiarity with procurement and supplier coordination in an R&D context is an asset.

- Bosonic QEC Axis:

• Understanding of quantum error correction principles and their implementation.
• Design and analysis of bosonic codes, especially multimode grid codes (i.e. multimode generalization of the GKP code).
• Strategies for bosonic autonomous error correction and logical operations.

- cQED & System-Level Modeling Axis:

• Modeling of cQED dynamics in superconducting quantum systems.
• Optimization of pulse-level control strategies.
• System-level performance modeling, including coherence and error budgets.

- Core expertise shared by the two axes:

• Familiarity with open quantum systems and decoherence mechanisms.
• Experience with numerical modeling and analytical analysis.
