Our current needs

We are scaling our activities alongside our quantum processors. Our team thrives on creativity and innovation, constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible in quantum hardware design. We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electromagnetic Designer to join our Design team and contribute to the development of the next generation of high-performance quantum processors.

Working in close collaboration with experts at Nord Quantique, the chosen candidate will:

• Perform electromagnetic simulations to test and optimize quantum processor designs.
• Develop and refine EM structures to enhance coherence properties and coupling rates.
• Collaborate on the development of computational tools for design automation.
• Work with cross-functional teams to integrate optimized electromagnetic components.
• Conduct design validation and performance analysis to improve hardware efficiency.

The selected candidate will operate within a highly dynamic environment and will be an essential member of the Design team, directly contributing to advancing our technology at its physical core.

Education and experience requirements *:

• PhD or equivalent industry experience in electrical engineering, physics, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in electromagnetic design and finite-element simulations, an asset
• Experience in quantum hardware design and superconducting microwave circuits.
• Industry experience with a proven track record in interdisciplinary R&D teams.

Sought expertise and knowledge:

• Deep understanding of electromagnetic theory and microwave engineering principles.
• Proficiency in electromagnetic simulation software such as Ansys HFSS, PALACE, or similar.
• Experience in computational modeling and Python programming for scientific applications.
• Understanding of loss mechanisms and material properties in superconducting devices.
• Familiarity with automation and high-performance computing techniques.
• Advanced level in English, to communicate with international team members
• Intermediate knowledge of French, an asset

Working in close collaboration with experts at Nord Quantique, the chosen candidate will:

• Lead the development and integration of multi-cavity superconducting quantum processors.
• Work hands-on with cryogenic systems, superconducting microwave circuits, and control electronics.
• Collaborate with the Design team to improve hardware performance and reliability.
• Interface with the Nanofabrication team to support device fabrication.
• Contribute to experimental benchmarking and performance analysis.

The selected candidate will operate within a highly dynamic environment and will be an essential member of the Quantum Hardware team, directly contributing to advancing our technology at its physical core.

Education and experience requirements:

• PhD in quantum physics, electrical engineering, or a related field.
• 2 years of experience in superconducting quantum hardware development.
• Industry experience with a proven track record in interdisciplinary R&D teams, an asset

Our current needs

We are scaling our activities alongside our quantum processors. In this effort we are looking for an exceptional individual with a strong track record of experimental work in the field of quantum computing with superconducting circuits. This person will assist our team in the development and scaling up of our technology.

More specifically, this individual will lead experimental campaigns to push our hardware capabilities and continuously deepen our understanding of the science behind it. The person will develop new methods and hardware through a strong interaction with our theory, design and experimental teams.

Sought expertise

• PhD experience in working in experimental physics with superconducting circuits
• Proven experience in leading experimental campaigns and sub-teams
• Proven ability to design, characterize and push the performances of superconducting circuits
• Deep knowledge of experimental techniques related to the characterization of superconducting circuits including qubit spectroscopy and state-of-the-art time-domain techniques
• Good understanding of the theoretical concepts behind superconducting circuits
• Ability to program experiments in python-based environments

The theory team contributes to our quantum processor development by advancing both foundational understanding and applied modeling of bosonic fault-tolerant quantum computing. Their work spans topics such as multimode bosonic codes, autonomous QEC protocols, cQED modeling, and the interpretation of experimental results.

Education and experience requirements :

• PhD in Physics, Quantum Information, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in quantum theory or quantum computing research.
• Experience leading or coordinating theoretical efforts in an academic or industrial setting.
• Strong background in interdisciplinary collaboration and research-to-development transfer.

Sought expertise and knowledge:

The team’s work spans two complementary areas of focus. We welcome candidates with experience in either axis — and especially those motivated to grow into new areas of expertise.

- Bosonic QEC Axis:

• Understanding of quantum error correction principles and their implementation.
• Design and analysis of bosonic codes, especially multimode grid codes (i.e. multimode generalization of the GKP code).
• Strategies for bosonic autonomous error correction and logical operations.

- cQED & System-Level Modeling Axis:

• Modeling of cQED dynamics in superconducting quantum systems.
• Optimization of pulse-level control strategies.
• System-level performance modeling, including coherence and error budgets.

- Core expertise shared by the two axes:

• Familiarity with open quantum systems and decoherence mechanisms.
• Experience with numerical modeling and analytical analysis.
• Strong communication and scientific documentation practices.

The sustained growth of our team has led to increasing needs in terms of managing our IT resources. The Software team is currently responsible for IT at Nord Quantique. To support our internal operations and lay a solid foundation for the company's growth, we are looking for an experienced individual who will be responsible for structuring and improving our IT infrastructure.

Working in close collaboration with other members of the Software team and DistriQ, the candidate will:

• Develop and implement best practices for managing IT resources and data company wide.
• Manage policies for controlling access to IT tools.
• Establish and maintain an inventory of the company's IT equipment; ensure employee onboarding by providing them with the necessary equipment. 
• Deploy, maintain and troubleshoot workstations, servers as well as the company network.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity experts to ensure the security of hardware and software systems by implementing recommended practices.

Education and experience requirements :

• Diploma of college studies in computer science or related field. 
• At least 3 years of professional experience in IT management or systems support.
